10 Weeks/68 Days/1632 Hours Till Christmas

I know, I know, I know.....It's still two weeks until Halloween. Why are we talking about Thanksgiving? The early bird gets the worm.

True! But you have decided that this year is YOUR year! You're going to do things EARLIER this year and not be stressed out!

This week's assignment is to make a few decisions about Thanksgiving.

Who is hosting? Who is coming? What is your role in all of it?

A few things to consider to make your life easier….

Just because you have hosted Thanksgiving in the past, doesn't mean you have to host it again and in the same way. People love traditions, but they don't usually have to do all the work! It's OK to switch it up!

  • Go to dinner together at a restaurant or buffet. Most restaurants offer a wonderful Thanksgiving Meal. Check early and get a reservation.

  • Order a Thanksgiving Meal Kit from a local restaurant. Pick it up and have Thanksgiving Dinner at home. Most offer a la carte options too! Make what you want and order the rest!

  • Don't forget to make assignments! Unless cooking for days is your love language, let others share in the load.

Here are a few chain restaurants that offer a Thanksgiving Meal.

Cracker Barrel

Honey Baked Ham

Bob Evans

Boston Market

Marie Callendar's

Maggiano's

Costco

Also as a heads up, I've read several articles about a possible turkey shortage for 2021. The following information comes from a Better Homes and Gardens article.

  • Turkey producers in key supply chain areas have indicated that there will be a shortage of fresh turkeys below 20 lbs this year, according to multiple reports.

  • Due to a steep decline in demand for larger turkeys, as well as increased labor costs and other industry disruptions, farmers may not be able to produce enough fresh turkeys to meet the trend of smaller holiday meals.

  • Food experts say the best way to ensure your family will be able to cook and enjoy a smaller turkey this year is to buy a frozen variety, weeks to months in advance.
